APCC is now working with architects Meyer Scherer & Rockcastle, LTD (MS&R) and other members of the HAMM Brewery to define the parameters of the Cultural Center building. Current plans call for:

 A two-story building with approximately 45,000 square feet, located near two parking ramps and aligned with Unity Square’s community plaza.

 A lobby with a two-story high glass arcade running through the middle of the building.

 All public spaces on the first floor, which is 24 feet high to accommodate the theater/cinema and a banquet room (please see below).

 A gallery and library/resource center to the immediate right and left of the entrance to the building.

 A 5,000+ square foot banquet room that will accommodate up to 500 people. It will also be dividable into four separate areas.

 A 265-seat theater designed both for performing arts and cinema.

 APCC’s office, which will serve as security checkpoint for the facility.

 An elevator located near the loading areas.

 A loading dock to the kitchen and theater.

 A gift shop located opposite the APCC office.

The second floor of the APCC facility will include 14 (20 x 20) offices for non-profit cultural organizations on the east side and 11 (20 x 30) classrooms on the west side, separated by the glass arcade. Four of the classrooms can be combined to form a large space suitable for small cinema showings or other performances.

In addition, nine (20 x 30) classrooms will be located in the basement; some of these rooms will be completely soundproofed, and two can be combined into a larger (20 x 60) space. Mechanicals will be located on the building’s roof. A set of schematic drawings is included in the appendices.

The estimated total cost for APCC’s capital project is $5.5 million.
